Sonora Sound Tube

What is the Sonora?

Sonora is shaped like a tube, onto which 56 strings of the same tuning are stretched along the surface. With the help of a movable bench located inside the tube, you can slide directly inside the instrument. Imported from Poland, this instrument is crafted completely by hand using spruce and cedar wood.

Sonora's music is subtle, monotonous, trance-like, with a steady pace, devoid of complicated rhythms and sudden changes of mood.

During the relaxation session, a person lays down on a bench, on which they are pushed inside the instrument, thanks to which they can experience the action of sound waves inside the Sonora. The vibration produced by the gentle plucking of the Sonora's strings spreads through the bridge of the tube and on to the rest of the instrument. Sound waves travel through muscles, tissues and bones, reaching every corner of the body, and the subtle music allows you to drift off to sleep or enter a state of meditation. Sonora naturally restores the harmony of body and mind.

The vibrations from the Sonora are felt at the physiological level as a gentle, pleasant massage.

The instrument's strings vibrate at a frequency of 64Hz. Both the tube and the bench are made of resonance wood, which does not dampen vibrations and instead facilitates their spread to other parts of the instrument, even to the floor. The low bass produced by the Sonora is also transferred to the body of the person inside. Tissues, muscles, skeleton and body fluids vibrate. This massage, combined with delicate music, has a calming effect on both the physical and mental levels.

People who had the opportunity to experience Sonora's music described their experience as a journey through a previously unknown space.

Due to the same tuning of all strings, it might seem that the music played on Sonora is ... boring. In fact, this limitation makes it impossible to play a piece of music on it. The instrument produces only one note and a number of accompanying harmonics, and due to the long decay time, it is rhythmically uniform. However, its richness lies in overtones - after plucking a single string, you can hear, next to the bass basic sound, a whole range of delicate sounds. The sounds of the instrument are compared to the trance sound of ethnic instruments.
